Screening of Bacillus in Biocontrol and Production of Bio-Fertilizer for use in Organic Rice Farms
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study was conducted to isolate bacteria from soil in organic rice farm, and evaluate their potential as biofertilizers. Three bacterial isolates (BS3, BA3 and BL3) were isolated. These isolates were studied and found to be Bacillus spp. with their colony characteristics and biochemical testing. These isolates were
checked for their ability to produce antibiotic, Indole acetic acid, and nitrogen fixation. Isolate BA3 was found to produce maximum amount of Indole acetic acid and BS3 showed higher nitrogen fixation and antibiotic potential. Then, these isolates used for rice (KDML 105) growth testing. The results were indicated that, isolate BS3 had the effect on the growth of rice with high percentage of rice grain filling and higher yield per pot compared with water and chemical fertilizer.
