A Study and development of a papyrus splitting machine for woven products

Abstract
The objective of this research was to investigate and evaluate the performance of a papyrus splitting machine. Four levels of splitting blades (1, 2, 4, and 6 blades) were studied. The performance indicators included working capacity, splitting efficiency, percentage of loss, and power consumption. The results indicated that using 1 blade has an average working capacity of 522.62 reeds h-1, with an efficiency of 95%, percentage of loss of 5%, and average power consumption of 95.99 W. For 2 blades, the average working capacity was 517.56 reeds/hour, with an efficiency of 97%, percentage of loss of 3%, and and average power consumption of 108.37 W. For 4 blades, the average working capacity was 500.92 reeds/hour, with an efficiency of 93%, percentage of loss of 7%, and and average power consumption of 123.14 W. 6 blades configuration showed an average capacity of 511.71 reeds/hour, with an efficiency of 94%, percentage of loss of 6%, and average power consumption of 125.58 W, respectively.
