Abstract

Effect of seedling media from azolla and biochar on germination and growth of eggplant seedling. Data were analyzed statistically by Completely Randomized Design (CRD) by 7 treatments were 1) peat  2) peat: azolla (1:1) 3) coconut dust: azolla (1:1) 4) coconut dust : durian shell biochar : manure (2:1:1) 5) coconut dust: durian shell biochar: azolla (2:1:1) 6) coconut dust: rice husk biochar: manure (2:1:1) 7) coconut dust : rice husk biochar: azolla (2:1:1) each treatment was 4 replications. Data was recorded at 21 days in eggplant included: germination index (GI), mean germination time (MGT), percentage of germination, seedling height and root length. The eggplant seedling was the highest germination index at 2.52 due to the rapidly in MGT only 10.74 days after planted the highest percentage of germination, leaf No., shoot weight and shoot height in treatment using coconut dust: rice husk biochar: manure (2:1:1). Therefore, using coconut dust: rice husk biochar: Manure (2:1:1) in seeding of eggplant seeds, that make good preparation rates of seeds and strong and make the result as same as peat as seedling media.
