Abstract
White Tailed-Yellow chicken is special breed of the native chickens which is considered the unique breed and long legend in Phitsanulok province. Nowadays, the number of White Tailed-Yellow chicken is decreased dramatically. Thus, the objectives of this research was to study situation and pattern of raising White Tailed-Yellow Chicken of small scale farmers in Phitsanulok province. A total of 23 farmers from the purposive samples were used in this study. A questionnaire was used for data collection. The descriptive statistics used in the data analysis were arithmetic mean, standard deviation, minimum, maximum and percentage. The results showed that the most farmers were male (68.18%). The farmers’ average age was 50.18 ± 14.23 years old. The most of farmers had high school education (47.62%). The farmers’ average experience for White Tailed-Yellow chicken raising was 17.38 ± 8.94 years. The semi-free range condition of rearing system was found in this study (68.18%). Most farmers preferred to select White Tailed-Yellow chicken breeds (89.47%). Farmer did keep record (68.42%). The majority of farmers raised White Tailed-Yellow chicken for selling (78.00%). Accordingly, all organizations should support farmers to accurately and appropriately raised White Tailed-Yellow chicken, and includes systematic training and continuous support information to conservation and raising White Tailed-Yellow chicken production in a sustainable manner.
