Abstract
The research Needs for Knowledge and Media on Rice Production of Farmer Housewives in NongwaiIrrigation Project Area, Changwat Khon Kaen, by random sampling of 155 farmer housewives, in April 2007.Data analysis was obtained through computer program package for frequencies, percentages, means, maximum andminimum, standard deviation, t-test and F-test values. The results revealed that the farmer housewives expressedtheir needs for knowledge on rice production at the high level in following items: variety selection, crop care, plantprotection, harvest and post harvest, and marketing, respectively. The extension media for transferring knowledgeon rice production that the farmer housewives needed at the high level were as the following: including agricultureextension worker, family members, village leaders, contact farmers, and neighbors, including training, plotdemonstration, method demonstration, lecture, and informal meetings, including village announcing centers, radio,television, extension guides, newspapers, leaflets, journals and posters. The results from comparisons study revealedthat there were statistically significant difference between ages, household labor migration, group memberships,rice yields in rainy and dry seasons had statistically significant differences on the levels of needs for knowledgeand extension media on rice production.
