Abstract

Fibrolytic bacteria are the major rumen bacteria in the rumen of ruminants and have shown an important role in fiber degradation. Many researchers have developed methodologies to classify fibrolytic bacteria, including culture in a medium and rumen molecular technique using 16S rRNA gene as a basis. However, these are still limited due to low accuracy. Currently, researchers are interested in the use of functional genes to identify specific microorganisms. Functional genes are more comprehensive and specific than 16S rRNA. The cel5_392F–754R primer can identify rumen fibrolytic bacteria without detecting other groups of bacteria.
