Properties and stability of probiotic Bacillus spores in chicken feed
Main Article Content
Abstract
The objective of this research was to study the properties and persistence of probiotic Bacillus spore under different conditions of 4 bacteria isolates of namely B. aryabhattai (CKNJh11), THPS1, PWR01, and OYNH19 which were separated from shrimp pond soil, hot spring soil, cup lump rubber and chicken feces. The 4 isolates had 97.05, 92.21, 92.08, and 84.58% of sporulation efficiency, respectively. In the gastric acid tolerance test the survival rate was greater than 83%. Bile salt tolerance had a higher survival rate than 73% and the isolate OYNH19 spores were the best heat resistant at 80 °C, with a survival rate of 91.30%. B. aryabhattai (CKNJh11), THPS1 and PWR01 had the best heat resistance at 70 °C, with survival rates of 85.94, 90.10 and 90.79%, respectively. The ability of tolerances to alcohol lysozyme and salinity of 4 isolates had higher survival rates of more than 70%. When the four isolates of the bacterial spores were mixed in chicken feed and kept at various temperatures for 30 days, the bacterial spores of the 4 isolates showed a survival rate of more than 70%. The results of this study showed that the Bacillus spores tested in all 4 isolates were stable, durable, and resistant to various conditions. It can be applied to use as probiotics in agriculture, animal husbandry, and the feed industry.
