Butterfly species diversity in Yakruae and Phromleang streams, Nam Nao national park, Phetchabun Province

Abstract

     The species diversity of butterfly in Nam Nao national park, Phetchabun Province was investigated by using insect sweep net along Line-transect method. The butterflies were collected during six months between July to December 2013 from two sampling sites, including, Yakruae stream and Phromleang stream. The results revealed that a total of 80 species and belonged to 52 genera and 5 families were found. The family Nymphalidae was the highest number of species (43 species), Lyceanidae (20 species), Papilionidae (10 species), Pieridae (6 species) and Hesperiidae was the lowest number of species (1 species), respectively. Additionally, butterfly species diversity was found 57 species in Yakruae stream and 43 species in Phromlaeng stream. Moreover, twenty-five butterfly species were found in both sampling sites. The similarity index analysis was 0.47. Air temperature and relative humidity were related to butterfly species diversity with the correlation equal to 0.696 and -0.018 respectively at 0.05 significantly level.
