Factors affecting people’s participation in the master plan to promote cultural tourism of KohKret community, Pak Kret, Nonthaburi

Abstract

This research aims to study people’s participation in the 3 year master plan (2017- 2019) to promote cultural tourism of Koh Kret, Pak Kret, Nonthaburi Province and to compare people’s participation in the master plan classified by personal factors. The sample of this study consisted of 300 residents of Koh Kret Community, Pak Kret, Nonthaburi chosen by stratisfied random sampling method. The research instrument used for data collection was a questionnaire. The statistical procedures employed included frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, and One-way ANOVA. The research findings were as follows: 1) the people’s participation in the master plan to promote cultural tourism as a whole was at a moderate level (X ̅ = 2.74). When considering each aspect, it was found that most people participated moderately in terms of conceptualization, planning and decision making (X ̅ = 2.83), implementation and operation (X ̅ = 3.23), and receipt and sharing of benefits (X ̅ = 2.68). In terms of monitoring and evaluation, participation was at a low level (X ̅ = 2.21). 2) The demographic factors that influenced people's participation in the project management master plan to promote cultural tourism were age, status and occupation.
