The Relationship between the Literacy of Information Technology and Communication and the Academic Achievement of The Students at Chandrakasem Rajabhat University

The objectives of this research were 1) to study the level of knowledge in terms of information and communication technology of undergraduate students and 2) to study the relationship between knowledge in terms of information and communication technology, and academic achievement of undergraduate students studying in Chandrakasem Rajabhat University. The sample was comprised of 357 students who were studying in Chandrakasem Rajabhat University. The test of knowledge in information and communication technology was employed as the main instrument to collect data concerning the level of students’ knowledge. Descriptive statistics used in the research were frequency, percentage, average, and standard deviation. Chi-square correlation test was used to investigate the relationship between the level of knowledge in terms of information and communication technology and students’ academic achievement.
The results of the research revealed that 1) The majority of students participating in this study (42.90%) had high level of knowledge in information and communication technology; followed by the second group whose knowledge in information and communication technology was found to be at the highest level 29.70%; 23.20% at medium level; and finally 4.20% at low level. Regarding the relationship between the level of information and communication technology knowledge and academic achievement, these two variables were found to be correlated with statistical significance at the level of .05. In addition, the level of knowledge in information and communication technology was also found to be correlated with gender with statistical significance at the level of .05.
