The Development of Music Theory Foundation Teaching Media for Secondary Grade 1 Students of Krathumbaen Sisetsamutthakhun School

Abstract

           The objectives of this research were to 1) develop the music theory foundation teaching media for secondary grade one students of Krathumbaen Wisetsamutthakhun School, 2) to determine the efficiency of the music theory foundation teaching media for 1^st year secondary students, 3) to compare the results of pre- and post-applications of the music theory foundation teaching media for 1^st year secondary students. Simple random sampling was used in this research. There were 30 students studying in their 1^st year of secondary school participating in this study. The instruments used in this research consisted of 8 parts of the foundations of music theory material, and pre- and post-tests. The statistics used for data analysis were arithmetic mean, standard deviation, and dependent t-test.

           The results revealed that the foundations of music theory materials consisted of 8 parts: 1.1) Music notes for fun, 1.2) How to clap the rhythmic pattern, 1.3) How to write the music notes in Treble clef and Bass Clef, 1.4) Learn Love Sing Scale C major, 1.5) Learn Love the basic of vocal techniques and sign with emotion, 1.6) How to sing “Phran Phrai” song in C major scale, 1.7) How to sign “ Floor Fueang Fa” song in C major scale, and 1.8) How to vocal expression of emotion in singing through “Phran Phrai” song and “Floor Fueang Fa” song. 2) The effectiveness of teaching media was 86.13/91.06, which relevant to the criteria of 80/80. 3) The students’ learning achievement through the learning of the music theory foundation teaching media showed that the post test score was higher than the pre-test score at .05 level of statistical significance.
