Farmers' Expectations Towards the Production Promotion and Organic Rice Marketing in Khon Kaen Province

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to study the farmers’ expectations towards the production promotion and organic rice marketing in Khon Kaen province. Data were collected in November 2017 to January 2018. The population is farmers who produce organic rice in Khon Kaen province area according to the list names that registration of community enterprises and community enterprise networks under the Community Enterprise Extension Enactment, BE 2005 total 4 districts, namely Waeng Yai, Muang Khon Kaen, Nong Song Hong and Ban Had for 135 cases, which were obtained from multi-step sampling. Data analysis used Statistical program to find the frequency, percentage, mean, minimum, maximum. The hypothesis testing used t-test, F-test and comparison by Scheffe ‘test. The study farmers’ expectations towards the production promotion and organic rice marketing are total 9 aspects with totaling 39 issues. The results of the study revealed that farmers had a high level of expectation in 8 aspects as follows: 1) seed preparation 2) areas preparation 3) organic fertilizers using 4) rice pests prevention 5) water management 6) before and after harvesting management 7) products storage 8) Organic rice marketing and there is low level of expectation 1 aspect i.e. 1) planting method. The results of the comparison of farmers’ expectations towards the production promotion and organic rice marketing in Khon Kaen province found that farmers who have age, land holding, income and experience from organic rice production and organic rice farmers who received different standards for organic rice production affect to different expectations for organic rice production and marketing.
