Needs for extension services of sugarcane growers in Northeastern region

Abstract
This research aims at identifying needs for agricultural extension services of sugarcane growers in the Northeastern region. The data were collected from 494 sugarcane growers in 2009/2010. It was found that knowledge on white leaf disease control, selection of sugarcane cultivars and soil improvement were highly needed. The highly needed extension technology methods was study tour at successful sugarcane farm. The highly needed support included price assurance, arrangement on sugarcane stalk procurement and arrangement on fertilizers and chemicals procurement. The sugarcane growers with shorter period of being membership needed knowledge on sugarcane production to greater extension than there with longer period of being membership.
