Abstract

Journal of Agricultural Research and Academic Development
Volume 42, Issue 1 (January–April 2025)

The Journal of Agricultural Research and Academic Development proudly enters its 42nd year of publication, continuing its longstanding commitment to the dissemination of high-quality academic research in the field of agriculture. This first issue of the year 2025 reflects the ongoing dedication of the editorial team to producing and publishing scholarly articles that meet established academic standards.

We are pleased to announce that, in the most recent evaluation cycle, the journal was formally accredited for its academic quality and has been indexed in Tier 1 of the Thai Journal Citation Index (TCI). This achievement represents a significant milestone and serves as a testament to the diligence and professionalism of the editorial team.

The first quarter of this year has posed considerable challenges for Thailand, with the onset of severe summer storms, strong monsoonal winds, and persistent air pollution caused by PM2.5—similar to previous years. Compounding these difficulties was a powerful earthquake measuring 8.2 on the Richter scale, originating from the Sagaing Fault in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. The resulting tremors were felt across multiple regions of Thailand, particularly in the northern provinces and the Bangkok metropolitan area, causing substantial damage and loss of life. The editorial board extends its deepest condolences to those affected by this tragic event and expresses sincere solidarity with all who have suffered losses.

In response to the escalating frequency and severity of natural disasters, it is imperative that society, including the agricultural sector, develop adaptive strategies and employ advanced technologies and innovations to mitigate risks and enhance resilience.

This issue features a variety of noteworthy research articles, including:

  • Optimal agitation methods for promoting the growth of Chlorella algae

  • Effects of organic fertilizer on the growth and nutritional content of Melientha suavis (Pak Liang)

  • The use of chemical agents to inhibit microbial contamination and their effects on sugarcane tissue culture in open systems

In the domain of animal production:

  • The influence of floor mat types on chickens’ behavioral preferences under free-choice conditions

  • An evaluation of reproductive efficiency in Southern native chickens

  • Effects of dried catechu bark extract on survival and growth rates of Crowntail Betta fish fry

In the field of agricultural extension and economics:

  • An investigation into the problems, production costs, and returns associated with cassava cultivation among farmers under the Large Plot Agricultural Extension Model

As well as several other scholarly contributions addressing diverse areas of agricultural science.

It is our sincere hope that this issue will serve as a valuable source of knowledge for readers and stakeholders, fostering academic exchange and supporting the advancement of the agricultural sector in response to ongoing and future challenges. We look forward to welcoming you again in Volume 42, Issue 2 (May–August 2025).
