Abstract

This research aimed to 1) investigate approaches to developing media to promote learning about stingless bees, 2) develop interactive video media on the YouTube platform, 3) compare learning achievement between the use of traditional media and new media, and 4) examine participants’ satisfaction with the media. The research comprised two phases. The media development phase involved 157 trainees attending the training and 3 experts specializing in content and 3 experts specializing in learning media. The media experimental phase involved 80 trainees attending the training, divided into a control group and an experimental group, with 40 participants in each group. The findings indicated that the guidelines for developing video media should focus on three key areas. First, lesson content should be divided into sub-lessons that align with learners’ needs, emphasizing key issues. Second, video and platform design should employ natural color tones, emphasize the use of authentic images, and ensure consistency between content and text, while the platform should be easy and convenient to access. Third, interactive design to promote learning should encompass learner–content, learner–system, and learner–learner/instructor interactions through activities integrated into the video content and system. The quality evaluation revealed that both content and learning media were rated at the highest level (x̄ = 4.22, S.D. = 0.50 and x̄ = 4.22, S.D. = 0.65, respectively). The comparison of learning achievement showed that the experimental group achieved significantly higher learning achievement than the control group (t = -5.32, p < 0.001), indicating the effectiveness of the developed interactive video media. Furthermore, participants’ overall satisfaction was rated at the highest level for content (x̄ = 4.46, S.D. = 0.68) and learning media (x̄ = 4.45, S.D. = 0.72). These findings indicate that the interactive video media developed on the YouTube platform has the potential to effectively promote learning.
