Development of a Website Using Data Visualization Techniques for Hard Clam (Meretrix spp.) in the Gulf of Thailand
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the following objectives: (1) to investigate guidelines for developing a website integrated with data visualization on hard clam in the coastal area of the Gulf of Thailand, (2) to develop the website based on the identified guidelines, and (3) to examine users’ satisfaction with the developed website. The study was conducted with stakeholders involved in website development and was divided into two phases. The first phase, the media development phase, involved 30 users, 3 content experts, and 3 website development experts. The second phase, the implementation phase, involved 386 participants, including direct users associated with academic affairs and fisheries-related work, as well as general users. The research instruments consisted of semi-structured interview forms, a website on hard clam in the Gulf of Thailand, an expert-evaluated media quality assessment form, and a satisfaction questionnaire. The statistics used for data analysis were percentages, the arithmetic mean, and the standard deviation. The findings indicated that the website content must be accurate and academically valid, with consistency between visual elements and textual information. The design framework comprised three main components: (1) information architecture design, which adopted a hybrid structure with categorized content to enable efficient access through the main navigation menu and a logical content sequence,
(2) interaction design, focusing on enhancing user perception through interface elements that support ease of use, efficiency, and alignment with user expectations, and (3) visual design, emphasizing natural color tones, high-quality images consistent with the content, and simple, readable typography. The quality evaluation by content experts ( = 4.67, S.D. = 0.31) and media experts (
= 4.70, S.D. = 0.33) revealed overall ratings at the highest level. User satisfaction evaluation in terms of content (
= 4.51, S.D. = 0.04) and media (
= 4.57, S.D. = 0.16) also indicated the highest level.
