Effect of Nutrient Solution and Milk Bio-extract on Growth of Red Butterhead Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) Cultivated under Hydroponics System
Keywords:
lettuce, growth, milk bio-extract, hydroponicsAbstract
Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) is mostly cultivated in the hydroponic system where factors affecting growth and yield can be controlled. This research aimed to investigate the influence of Phranakhon nutrient solution and different concentrations of milk bio-extract concentrations (0.40, 0.50, 0.60 or 1.00% v/v) on growth of red butterhead lettuce cultivated under hydroponics system. An experimental design was completely randomized design (CRD) with five treatments, and five replications per treatment. The results showed that red butterhead lettuce cultivated in the Phranakhon nutrient solution showed the highest plant height, leaf number, plant canopy, shoot fresh weight, shoot dry weight and photosynthetic pigment concentrations. While the red butterhead lettuce cultivated in the milk bio-extract at 1.00% (v/v) gave the highest shoot dry matter.
