Unit Cost Analysis for Smart Frog (Hoplobatrachus rugulosus) Farm

Abstract

The objective of this research was to 1) study the cost per unit of nursing of frog tadpoles, traditional farm and smart farm 2) analyze the cost per unit of the smart frog farm: a case study of the Faculty of Fisheries Industry, Department of Aquaculture, Nakhon Si Thammarat College of Agriculture and Technology. The research was carried out in five steps, as follows: 1) studying general information of traditional frog farm and smart frog farm, 2) analyzing organization structure for determining unit cost, 3) calculating unit cost of traditional frog farm, 4) calculating unit cost of smart frog farm and 5) comparing unit cost of traditional frog farm with smart frog farm. The results showed that the cost per unit of traditional frog farm was 1.98 Baht which was divided into labor cost 1.59 Baht, material cost 0.34 Baht and capital cost 0.05 Baht. The cost per unit of smart frog farm was 1.87 Baht which was divided into labor was 1.13 Baht, material cost 0.70 Baht and capital cost 0.04 Baht. Moreover, the unit cost of the traditional frog farm was higher than smart frog farm of 0.11 Baht. The smart frog farm has a lower labor cost but has a higher material cost than that caused by the electronic equipment used. Therefore, the equipment should be chosen to have the appropriate of specifications for use, including the maintenance of the equipment in order to control the cost of materials to be appropriate for production.
