Abstract

The aim of this research was to analyze the chemical compositions of the essential oil derived from the fresh flowers of Dendrobium chrysotoxum Lindl. using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry/Mass Spectrometry triple quadrupole (GC-MS/MS TQ). The essential oil from D. chrysotoxum was extracted via hydro distillation. The fresh flowers yielded an essential oil content of 0.09%w/w. Several compounds were identified and categorized into five groups: saturated hydrocarbons, alcohols, oxygenated terpenes, terpenes, and alkanes. The predominant components of the D. chrysotoxum essential oil were n-eicosane (40.71%), n-heneicosane (25.71%), n-pentacosane (7.11%), α-phellandren-8-ol (5.42%), and n-docosane (4.23%).
