Abstract

The objective of this research was to analyze the cost and benefit of pharmaceutical product from nothern herbs, Ma-Kwaen. Data were collected from 11 community enterprises producing and selling herbal balm in the northern region. The results of the analysis of financial costs and benefits showed that community enterprises’ initial investment in the production and distribution of herbal balms was 5,832.00 Baht, consisting of average working capital of 4,260 Baht and average tools and equipment of 1,572.00 Baht. The average net income in the first year was 2,866.41 Baht, the second year was 4,049.31 Baht, the third year was 4,046.54 Baht, the fourth year was 5,468.28 Baht and the fifth year was 1,950.90 Baht. The results of the investment project analysis revealed that it has a payback period of approximately 1 year and 9 months. Investment in this herbal balm had a net present value was 5,131.52 Baht with an internal rate of return of 54.48%. Therefore, it is wise to invest in this herbal balm production.
