Factors Related to Robusta Coffee Production of Farmers in Rubror Sub-District, Tha Sae District, Chumphon Province

Abstract
Objectives of this research were to study 1) personal factors, economic factors, knowledge of
robusta coffee production technology and information exposure to robusta coffee, 2) robusta coffee production
and 3) relationship between personal factors, economic factors, knowledge of robusta coffee
production technology and information exposure to robusta coffee toward robusta coffee production of
farmers in Rubror sub-district, Tha Sae district, Chumphon province. Data were collected by using interview
Schedule with 312 farmers. Statistical analysis were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation,
minimum, maximum and chi-square.The results showed that most of the farmers were male with average
age was 47.38 years old, attained primary education or lower. The average number of farm household was
3.66 persons. The average experience of robusta coffee was 20.74 years. Farmers were not membership
of robusta coffee group. The average area of robusta coffee was 14.41 rai. The average annual income
from robusta coffee production was 15,276.66 B a ht/Rai/Year. The average expenditure from robusta coffee production was 4,721.61 Baht/Rai/Year. The average labor in robusta coffee planting was 4.55
persons. Farmers used their own capital to plant robusta coffee and sold them to middlemen. Knowledge
of robusta coffee production technology with the average total at the high level. Farmers information
exposed to robusta coffee from fellow farmers, television, conferences and robusta coffee production with
the average total was partially produced according to an advice of Department of Agricultural Extension.
The hypothesis testing found that educational level, number of farm household, experience of planting
robusta coffee, being membership of robusta coffee group, income from robusta coffee production,
number of labors in planting robusta coffee, funding for planting robusta coffee, knowledge of robusta
coffee production technology and information exposure to robusta coffee by people media, mass media
and activity media related to robusta coffee production at 0.05 and 0.01 level of significance.
