Abstract

The objective of this research were to study of land used at provincial level, diversity of rice varieties and rice planting areas at the sub-district level of Chachoengsao province. The data were collected using data from farmers who register rice growers and a random interview farmer in the areas. For research finding, it was found that the highest land used in this province was aquaculture area as 122,362 hectare or 23.69% of total areas. The rice area was the fourth most abundant crop, accounting for 54,844 hectare (10.62% of total areas). the number of rice varieties found in districts of Khlong Khuean, Bang Khla, Bang Nam Priao, Bang Pakong, Ban Pho, Mueang, Ratchasan, Phanom, Sarakham, Sanam Chai Khet, Plaeng Yao and Tha Takiap in the in-season rice as 19, 24, 41, 19, 20, 25, 35, 55, 2, 29 and 20 species and off-season rice as 14, 21, 33, 9, 17, 23, 26, 19, 0, 11 and 5 species, respectively. There were rice planting areas in the in-season rice as 7,386.81, 2,471.12, 30,178.11, 1,800.13, 3,108.61, 19,586.68, 5,421.43, 9,821.90, 7,115.38, 2,055.42 and 2,229.63 ha and off-season rice as 3,595.62, 1,303.24, 21,522.71, 684.93, 1,918.25, 16,653.08, 3,774.90, 2,333.69, 0.00, 199.88 and 64.06 ha, respectively. This information will be the basis for the management of rice growing areas for farmer and rice scientist, and selecting rice variety or promote planting to accordance with demand and rice markets.
