Farmers’ Expectation and Satisfaction in Attending Irrigation Water Management Group, Thung Saliam District, Sukhothai Province

Abstract

Farmers’ expectation and satisfaction in attending irrigation water management group, Thung Saliam district, Sukhothai province. A study of this research has objectives as follows: to study operation and benefits of participation in irrigation management group of farmers, to study farmers' expectations and satisfaction for benefits of participation in irrigation management group of farmers, to compare differences between expectations and satisfaction of farmers for benefits of participation in irrigation management group.
Data were collected from 100 irrigation water using samples in qualitative research were an interview with director of weir, collecting data by questionnaire. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and analysis of variance. The research found that 89.0% of participants in irrigation management group were male with an average age of 60.63 years old, 83.0% married, 63% graduated from a primary school. A study of farmers' expectations found that generally, farmers' expectations were at the highest level for benefits of participation in irrigation management group. Issues that most farmers expected. A study of farmers' satisfaction found that generally, farmers' satisfaction was at highest level for benefits of participation in irrigation management group. Satisfaction of all 5 issues was at high level.
A study of differences of expectations and satisfaction of irrigation management group of Mae Bo Thong weir, Muang Na waterway, Sri Saliam Khlong Lan weir and Mae Thun weir showed that there were statistically significant differences at level of 0.05.
When comparing expectations among irrigation management group of Mae Bo Thong weir, Muang Na waterway, Sri Saliam Khlong Lan weir and Mae Thun weir found that expectations of irrigation management group of Mae Bo Thong weir and Muang Na waterway (upstream and big areas) were different from expectations of irrigation management group of Sri Saliam Khlong Lan weir (middle and medium areas) and Mae Thun wei (downstream and small areas). However, when comparing expectations among irrigation management group of Sri Saliam Khlong Lan weir (middle and medium areas) and Mae Thun weir (downstream and small areas) found that there was no difference.
