Abstract

Although gastronomy tourism has been increasingly promoted as a mechanism for adding value to agricultural products and generating income for local communities, empirical evidence explaining its impacts at the farm level remain limited, particularly in relation to improvements in production standards and the conversion of knowledge into tangible economic outcomes. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of the gastronomy tourism project in Chanthaburi Province in enhancing farmers’ knowledge, production standards, and market opportunities. A quantitative research approach was employed using a program evaluation design. Data were collected from 200 participating farmers through a structured questionnaire, and descriptive statistics were applied to analyze changes observed after project participation. The findings revealed that the project produced positive effects on strengthening farmers’ production capacity. Notably, 49.50% of farmers obtained Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) certification, and 90.50% reported improvements in production standards consistent with their expectations, indicating progress toward standardized and value-added agricultural practices. However, outcomes related to market access and income generation remained moderate. Only 29.00% of farmers adopted online marketing channels, and 5.00% reported increased income from gastronomy tourism-related activities. These results suggest that the transformation toward value-added agriculture through gastronomy tourism remains at an early stage.
